For two whole weeks, the protagonist of this story remained confined to a hospital bed. The days lost their distinct outlines: they melted into one another under the cold light of fluorescent tubes, accompanied by the constant rhythm of medical equipment. There was no clear beginning nor a defined end. Only a long period of sterile whiteness, pauses between electronic pulses, and the feeling of inhabiting a time different from that of the outside world.
His body, wounded in ways he still couldn’t fully understand, exacted a price for every movement. Each breath seemed measured by the pain throbbing beneath his skin. His muscles didn’t always respond to the commands his mind sent them, and a part of him felt detached, as if observing everything from another room with the blinds drawn.
