The data on cancer is increasingly worrying. According to the latest statistics published by the AIRC Foundation, diagnoses in Italy are steadily increasing. Compared to 2020, 2022 saw a 1.4% increase in cancer cases among men and a 0.7% increase among women.
According to AIRTUM (Italian Association of Cancer Registries), the pandemic’s impact on the number of cancer screening tests has also contributed, as many have been postponed. And, as we know, timing plays a crucial role in cancer.
Among the most feared cancers is bone cancer, defined as any tumor, benign or malignant, that originates in a bone or cartilage cell. It includes at least 50 different types of malignant and benign tumors and is experiencing a worrying peak in incidence among young people, between the ages of 14 and 25.
Judging by the statistics, these tumors are relatively rare. In Italy, approximately 350 new cases are registered each year (1 new case per 100,000 inhabitants). The causes of this type of tumor are still largely unknown, so there is no effective method of prevention to reduce the risk.
However, it’s crucial to know the symptoms of cancer so that early intervention is possible. There’s one symptom in particular that deserves special attention, and learning to identify it can save your life. What is it? Discover all the details on the next page.
