Main Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups milk (whole milk is best)
- 1 jar or packet (≈120 g) dried chipped beef
- Black pepper, to taste
For Serving:
- 4 slices bread, toasted

Instructions
- Prepare the beef
- Chop the dried beef into small pieces.
- If very salty, soak in warm water for 5–10 minutes, then drain.
- Make the roux
- Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
- Add flour and whisk for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Create the sauce
- Slowly pour in milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook until thick and creamy.
- Add the beef
- Stir in chopped beef.
- Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes.
- Season
- Add black pepper (salt usually not needed).
- Serve
- Spoon generously over hot toast.
